Özet

In this study, a PID controller is proposed for cruise control systems in vehicles. The cruise control system here is linearized around the equilibrium point. A new simple design method is provided for tuning the parameters of the PID controller. In this method, PID controller is designed based on tuning the optimal proportional gain from the system according to the settling time ts, overshoot Mp. Determining the other parameters of the PID controller by adjusting the optimum ratio gain (kp) in a stable loop that minimizes the settling time and the error rate of the overshoot constitutes the basis of the method. The performance of the controller designed with the method without complex mathematical formulation is compared with the PID performance designed with state space, classical, fuzzy logic, genetic algorithm methods. As a result of numerical simulations, it has been observed that the performance of the PID controller designed with the proposed method is more successful than the other controllers mentioned.
